Are you a researcher/producer looking through the CONUS Archive to find potential video to use within your production? Here are a few tips that will make your job that much easier.
First, CONUS offers FREE research, so save some time and send us a wish list of the material you're looking for. With over 30 years of combined experience in working with the archive we can suggest the best material and save you loads of research time.
Second, we're in the process of digitizing our entire collection. While this is a daunting task, we're constantly adding clips that are viewable online. The best way to view what's already been digitized is to go to www.Footage.net, use the 'Advanced Search' function and check the 'View Clips Results Only' box when you search the CONUS Archive, which will pull up only material that has online screeners.
For example, if you want to see all the Surveillance clips we currently have available to view online, simply insert Surveillance in the Search field, click the 'View Clips Results Only' box and click Search. All of the Surveillance clips that are available to view online will appear and you can view them at your own leisure. It doesn't get much easier than that. Maybe you're looking for police dashboard camera clips, type in Dashcam and you'll get a bunch of clips to view. Try inserting "Caught on Tape" and you'll see all sorts of amazing footage caught on camera.
The online viewing part of the archive grows daily. If you're not finding what you're looking for, try doing a broader search and uncheck the "View Clips Results Only" box and all of the scripts with and without online screeners will appear.
